Marietje
Böhmer was built by A.Vuyk
& Zonen in Ijssel in Holland and was launched in
September 1938. She was
requisitioned by the German Krigsmarine in July 1941 and
renamed Eisstrom. She was torpedoed by the Norwegian
submarine HNoMS Ula who was on her sixth patrol
24.November 1943. Still afloat, the German crew who
thought they had hit a mine, managed to beach her at
Eltrenes on Sula. The wreck became knows as the "Butter
wreck" during the war, and her remains rest today on a
depth of approx 15 to 25 meter on the north side of
Sula.
