Nobel

Møre & Romsdal,Norway

In 1911 Laurits Vartdal asked several  friends from Vartdal if they wanted to take part in building a fishing boat, and soon a firm and a boat was under construction. Ramoen was delivered in April 1912, and was at that time considered to be the largest fishing boat in Norway. After six successful years in the fishing industry she was sold in 1918 and renamed Nobel. She was put in local freighter service, mostly with transporting dynamite. Under a journey from Åheim to Flåvær loaded with her usual load of dynamite, she collided with the tourist boat Stella Polaris in Åramsundet and sank 7.June 1937. The wreck and her battered remains rest today on a depth of approx 22 meter.
