Rimage
was sunk 17.March 1945, on the same day as the steamer Iris and Log by British
Barracuda planes. After the attack she got assistance from
other vessels which laid in the harbor, but she was too
damaged to rescue and sank in Valderøyfjord shortly after.
The wreck rest today on her keel as a classic Donald Duck
wreck with her bow as the deepest part. Her reserve
propeller was raised by divers and given to Ålesund museum
in 1998. The wreck rest in the middle of the ship lane on
the north side of Ålesund harbor on a depth of 25 to 55
meter.
