Bernd Von Arnim - Z 11


The German destroyer Bernd Von Arnim was assigned to Kriegsschiffgruppe 1 which who assigned to secure Narvik and  the iron ore transport from Sweden under the invasion of Norway in April 1940. When they arrived Narvik in the morning 9.April, she engaged and sunk the Norwegian coastal defense ship HNoMS Norge in Narvik harbor. Under the second naval battle of Narvik 13.April she runs out ammunition and is forced to withdraw from the battle. She set course for Rombaksfjorden where she is beached and scuttled by her own crew shortly after. The wreck rest today in shallow waters with her bow still visible on the surface.
