Erich Köellner - Z 13

The
German destroyer Erich Köellner took part in two mine
laying operations in 1939 and 1940 and she was part of
the German battle groups assigned to secure Narvik and
the iron ore transport from Sweden in April 1940. She
was sunk after a battle with British forces in the
Ofotfjord outside Narvik 13.April 1940. The wreck of her
was abandoned and forgotten until1963 when she was
raised and scrapped.
