On
the west side of Malmøya outside the city of Oslo, rest
the remains of several dozens of various shipwrecks on a
depth of approximately 10 to 35 meter. The identity and
history of all these wrecks are unknown, but the area is
very close to the official dumping sites for condemned
vessels in Oslo harbor. Many of the wrecks were surveyed
and filmed by Sperre and Norwegian Maritime Museum in 2005
and it is believed that several of the wrecks are built of
steel and has sunk some time after 1940-1950. Also see the
wrecks at Gressholmen,
Oslo VI
and Svan.
