Argentina

The
tugboat Argentina was built in Geestemünde in Germany by
J.C Tecklenburg, and was launched in 1900. We have not
found out much about her history, but she ran aground
outside Egersund 10. November 1944 and disappeared in the
deep a couple of days later. Different sources claim
different reasons for her loss, but from Thor Thorsen and
Bergigingselskapet the following can be read; " Friday
night 10/11--44 at night the German tugboat ran aground at
Mera..." ( loosely translated from Norwegian. The wreck
rest today on a depth of approx 10 to 30 meter at Merre in
the southern approach to Egersund.
