The
shrimp trawler Kirkholmen was built in Florø in Norway and
was launched in 1959 for the Norwegian company Vartdal
Fiskeriselskap AS. She left Haugesund on her way to
the North Sea for fishing 5.May 1980. En route she ran
aground under heavy fog at Torvestad Treboen west of
Haugesund. She went down in the deep shortly after and in
the accident two men lost their lives. The wreck rest
today on a depth of 45 to 65 meter on the east side of the
bank.
