HMS Shark

The
British submarine HMS Shark was built by Chaltham
Docckyard in England, and was launched in May 1934. She
was commssioned in December that same year. She went down
5.July 1940 outside Feistein fyr. The day before they had
been attacked by German airplanes, and they had shot down
one Dornier DO17 in the fight. She was severely damaged
and Lt. Commander Noel Buckley decided to surrender.
Several German boats arrived the site and took the uboat
in tow. But while en route Shark started to sink since the
crew had started the scuttling before surrendering, and
the cable had to be
dropped
before the trawler that towed her also went down The wreck
rest west of Feistein lighthouse in deep waters.
