The ferry Lærdal was built in 1939 for Fylkesbaatene AS in Sogn & Fjordane. In June 1940 she was requisitioned by the German Kriegsmarine. She survived the war and continued her job as a ferry until 1970 where she was rigged down to a barge and sold. She also got a new name as Lærdølen at that time. In 1972 she was scuttled in Kastebukta in the Frierfjord. The wreck rest today approx 100 meter from shore in Kastebukta south of Porsgrunn on a depth of 20 meter.
