Lyngen
was built at Trondhjems
Mekaniske Verksted and was launched in February 1931.
She
had a long career, serving both as a coastal freighter,
transport for the German Kriegsmarine, sailed as a Coastal
Express and as a tourist boat to Svalbard. Her last years
she spent in the fishing industry. She was condemned and
rigged down in 1986, and the year after she was scuttled
outside Harstad, more precisely 2.July 1987. According to
rumors, diving has been done on the wreck, but we lack any
detailed and verified information about this.
