The French destroyer Bison was built by Arsenal de Lorient in France and was launched in October 1928. Under the German invasion of Norway, operation Weserübung in April 1940, she was sent together with other Allied forces to assist Norway in the fight against the Germans. While at Namsos helping out with evacuation of soldiers, she and HMS Afradi was attacked by German JU 87 Stuka planes from Sturzkampfgeschwader 1. Bison was hit by a bomb in the forward compartment making one of her magazines to explode. Several ships came to assist and rescue survivors, before she was sunk by gunfore from HMS Afradi.  It is believed that the wreck rest in deep waters.
