Uranus served as a coastal freighter, and sailed after the outbreak of the war in April 1940 in the Norwegian home fleet. She survived the war unharmed and under a journey from Bergen to Tromsø loaded with general goods 5.July 1948. she hit ground outside Stokkøya in fog and reduced visibility. A message was sent to another ship about the situation, and soon several ships arrived to assist. The following morning she had developed a listing toward port side, and at about 07:15 the engine stops for the last time. Three hours later she slides of the reef and disappear in the deep. The wreck rest today on a depth of approx 75 to 90 meter.
