Breiva went down outside Grønningen lighthouse 11.February 1962 under a journey from Kristiansand to Northern Norway loaded with wood. After they left Kristiansand, the engine room caught fire and the crew had to abandon ship. Later the same day she was taken in tow towards Kristiansand, but at the entrance to Kristiansand they understood that she couldn't be saved, and dropped the cable. She was abandoned full ablaze and she burned all the way down to the waterline. Today the devastated remains rest on a depth of 5 to 35 meter on the south side of Grønningen lighthouse.
