Judith

Agder,Norway

Judith is believed to have been a Dutch cargo steamer that shipwrecked outside Mandal in November 1883. Very little is known about her history, and Lloyds registry of ships has no ships listed with this name. As the story goes, under a journey from Finland loaded with timber, she hit ground and sank on the southwest side of Hille under a storm 24. November 1883. Only one man from her crew survived the accident, but died a few days later from his injuries. Wreck debris is today spread out on a depth of 30 to 40 meter near Taraldsbukta which is believed to be the remains of the old steamer.
