NK02 Dragoner

HNoMS Kjell was built in 1912 as a Lyn class torpedo boat at the Naval shipyard in Horten. She kept this name until the German invasion of Norway in April 1940. She laid at anchor for repairs in Kristiansand and was confiscated by Kriegsmarine after the city fell. The Germans put her in service 19.April 1940 and renamed her NK02 Dragoner. 28.September 1944 she was on her way to Kristiansand when six British Mosquito planes from Banff Strike Wing spotted her outside Mandal. After a short fight she was shot to pieces and sank in the depths together with seven of her crew. The wreck was found in February 2006 and rest partly intact east of the Ryvingen lighthouse on a depth of approx 40 meter.
