The
paddle steamer Norge was built by Thomas Wingate &
Company in Glasgow, and was launched 25.August 1854 for
the Norwegian company Bergenske Dampskibselskap. She stood
ready in September 1854 and was put in service in the
route between Bergen and Hamburg in Germany. 10.September
1854 under a journey from Christiansand to Hamburg, she
collided with the steamer Bergen. She sank within fifteen
minutes, and forty people lost their lives. The wreck rest
today on a depth of 205 meter between the islands of
Dvergsøya and Bradøya outside Kristiansand.
