Wittekind

Agder,Norway

The steamship Tricolor was built by Tyne Iron Shipbuilding Company in England, and launched in May 1906 for the Norwegian company Wilhelm Wilhelmsen in Tønsberg. She was in 1925 sold to new a owner in Germany and renamed to Wittekind. After the outbreak of world war two she was requisitioned by the German Kriegsmarine as a collier. Under a journey from Narvik to Germany she was attacked and sunk by British planes outside Lista 14.January 1944. The wreck has not yet been found.
