Kong Helge

The steamer Bjørg was laid down at Nylands Verksted in Kristiania, and was launched in 1891. After her owner went bankrupt, she was sold to Nordenfjeldske Dampskipsselskap in 1899 and renamed Kong Helge. Under a journey from Stavanger to Oslo loaded with general cargo and passengers she hit ground at Megrunnen near Tvistein Lighthouse 20.July 1929. The wreck was found by divers in 1992, and rest today on a depth of 35 to 40 meter. Also see the steamer Præsident Christie, another loss seven years later for Nordenfjeldske Dampskipsselskap.
