Præsident Christie

The steamship Præsident Christie was built by Bergens Mekaniske Værksted and launched in 1873. Under a journey from Stavanger to Oslo loaded with goods she hit ground 31.January 1936 under heavy fog on Tristeingrunnen after having drifted out of course. She was severely damaged in the accident, and the crew of 20 men and one female passenger had to abandoned ship. It is believed that the wreck rest north of Tristeingrunnen, but several attempts to find her has so far proven futile. Also see the steamer Kong Helge, another loss for Det Nordenfjeldske Dampskipsselskap.
