The
steamer Sam stranded on Årøboen outside Tønsberg
27.November 1923 under a journey from Sunderland to
Tønsberg loaded with coal and coke. Sam got of the bank
without help later on, and continued towards Tønsberg.
After the damages she got after the accident earlier, she
had taken in to much water for the pumps alone to keep her
afloat and they had to abandon ship. The crew got away
from the accident without injuries. The wreck was found in
1985 by Sandefjord dive club on a depth of 45 to 50 meter
approx 150 meter from shore north of Veierland.
