Strandsund was built by Karmsund Verft & Mekaniske Verksted in Avaldsnes and launched in March 1963 for the Norwegian company Vestfold Shipping & Trading AS in Tønsberg. She had a very short career, and only two months later she went down. Under a journey from Kragerø to Slemmestad loaded with coke breeze, she capsized and sank at outside Stavern 8.May 1963. The wreck rest today on a depth of 70 meter at Rakkebåene south of Stavern.
