The
steamship August Bolten was built by Neptun
Werft AG in Rostock as yard number 464, and was launched
in 1936. The German Kriegsmarinea always in demand of
ships, requisitioned her after the outbreak of world war
two. She ran aground on Alholmen outside
Korsfjorden south west of Forstrøno 18.November 1944 under
a journey from Bergen to Germany loaded with military
equipment for the Wehrmacht. She was stuck on the reef for
two days before she disappeared in the deep. The wreck
rest today on a depth of 90 to 120 meter.
