Elisabeth
Bornhofen was laid down in Frerichs in Germany, and was
launched in 1923. She was sunk in an Allied air raid
4.October 1944. Royal
Air Force had chosen this day to launch an attack on the
German uboat pens in Bergen, and under the attack they
spotted the freighter Elisabeth Bornhofen in Puddefjorden.
She was hit by bombs and set ablaze before she disappeared
in the deep. The wreck rest today on a depth of 65 to 80
meter right outside Bergen harbor.
