Right
outside the pier in Florø harbor, rest the wreck of an old
steel barge believed to be named Mons. According to rumors
from local divers, she was an old mine layer from the
Norwegian navy from the 1880's, rigged down as a barge in
her later years. According to historical sources, this
might be the old navy steamer Spekulator, built in 1866.
She was rigged down as a barge and used in Florø harbor.
From what we can gather, she sank sometime between 1939 -
1945 under the German occupation of Norway. The wreck rest
today on a depth of 30 to 45 meter.
