Femøsund was a ferry built by Fredrikshavn Værft & Flydedok in Fredrikshavn in Denmark, and was launched in 1931. She changed owners and names numerous times, before she ended up in Norway in the 1980s with the name Optimist for Austevoll Ferjeselskap AS. Her history is a but unclear after that, and it is not known exactly when and why she sank. It is beleived she sank while laid up and due to lack of maintenance. On the east side of Hattøyna the wreck of what is believed to be the former local ferry, rest on a depth of approximately 20 to 30 meter.
