War
Dene was built in Newcastle in England and was launched in
1919. She was sold to Norway soon after and renamed
Ramfoss, followed by Tyrifjord in the late 1930s when she
sailed for the Norwegian company Den Norske
Amerikalinje AS. She sailed for Home fleet
during second world war and was attacked by British
airplanes 19.September 1944 at Stavenes in the Sunnfjord.
Heavily damaged she was taken in tow to Askvoll where she
went down three days later. The remains of the steamer
rest today standing on her keel on a depth of 25 to 36
meter west of Askvoll.
