War Dene was built in Newcastle in England, and was launched in May 1920. She was sold to the Norwegian company Thor Thoresen Linje right after launch and renamed Ramfoss. The year after she was bought by Den Norske Amerika Linje and renamed Tyrifjord. She sailed in the Home fleet during second world war and, was attacked by British airplanes inthe Sunnfjord 19.September 1944 outside Stavenes. Heavily damaged she was ttowed to Askvoll where she sank three days later. The remains of the steamer rest today standing on her keel as a classic Donald Duck wreck on a depth of 25 to 35 meter west of Askvoll.
