Akershus
was built in Lenwerder in Germany in 1954 for the
Norwegian company Stavangerske Dampskipselskap AS. Nine
years after delivery, she went down in the deep south in
the Oslofjord. Under a journey from Oslo to Stavanger
loaded with general goods, she collided 1.March 1963 with
the Norwegian tanker Norsk Skald and sank south of the
island of Bastøy. The wreck rest today on a depth of 300
meter between Bastøy and Eløya.
