Perseus
was built by AG.Weser
in Bremen in Germany, and was launched in 1910. She sailed
for the German company Neptun
Line Dampfschifffahrts. At night 13.December 1944 the
Oslofjord was mined by
British airplanes to hinder the German shipping. While she
laid at anchor in Moss harbor, a drifting mine hit her 14.December
1944. She soon sank outside Jeløya at Værlebukta to a
depth of 7 to 15 meter. The wreck was salvaged and largely
scrapped on site after the war, and the battered remains
of her rest today in the middle of Værlebukta outside Moss
harbor.
