Storesand 1

The
steamship Storesand 1 was built in Motala in Sweden, and
was launched in 1910. Two years later she was sold to
Noreegian owners and renamed Fragtemand 2. She was again
sold in 1928, this time to the company Skibs
Aksjeselskapet Storesand and renamed to Storesand 1. She
was involved in a collision with the lightship Ildjernsflu in the
following year, in February 1929.. Under a journey from
Gilhus to Oslo loaded with general goods she hit a
drifting iceberg and developed a leak 25.January
1947 outside Svelvik. The crew of ten men had time to
launch the lifeboat before she went down, and got away
from the accident without any harm. The wreck rest today
on a depth of 106 meter.
