The
freighter Igara was built in Genoa in Italy in 1972, and
hit ground on the east coast of Malaysia the year after,
12.March 1973. She continued her journey but had to be
beached and later broke in two parts. The stern and cargo
was salvaged later, but the bow rest today standing on her
keel on a depth of 15 to 40 meter outside Merdarik and
Anambas Islands.
