The general cargo freighter Igara waslaid down by Italcantiari S.A in Genoa in Italy, and was launched in 1972. The year after she hit ground on the east coast of Malaysia 12.March 1973. She managed to continued her journey but had to be beached soon after. The hull broke in two parts, and her stern section and the cargo was salvaged. The bow rest today standing on her keel on a depth of 15 to 40 meter outside Merdarik and Anambas Islands.
