Maldive Victory


Malatian was a general cargo ship laid down by Robb Caledon Leith in Scotland, and was launched in February 1958 for the British company Ellerman Lines in Liverpool. She changed owners a couple of times before she started sailing as Maldive Victory for Maldives Shipping Company in 1971. Under a journey from Singapore to Male loaded with general goods, she ran aground at North Male Atoll 13. January 1981 and sank the following day. She was written of as a total loss, and rest today on her keel like a classic Donald Duck wreck on a depth of 12 to34 meter southwest of Hulhule. Also see the wreck of British Loyalty.
