Shigure
was a Shiratsuyu
class destroyer that was launched in 1935 for the
Japanese Imperial Navy. She participated in several
operations during the war in the Pacific from 1941 to
1945. In a convoy acting as an escort she was torpedoed
and sunk by the American submarine USS Blackfin
24.January 1945 in the Gulf of Thailand. Remains of the
wreck which is believed to be Shigure rest today on a
depth of 55 meter northeast of Kuala Terengganu.
