Thermopylae Sierra

Fideconbus Sierra was a bulk carrier built by Nipponkai Heavy Industries in Japan, and was launched in 1985. She changed both name and owners several times before she sailed as Thermopylae Sierra with Nicosia as port of registry from 2005. While she sailed under the management of the company Thesarco Shipping, she was taken in arrest in 2009 over a legal dispute and prevented from leaving Sri Lanka. She laid anchored and abandoned for several years at the Colombo outer anchorage, about two nautical miles west of Mount Lavinia, before she sank at her moorings under a monsoon 23. August 2012. The wreck rest today on her keel on a depth of 10 to 23 meter near Panadura.
