USS Wahoo


USS Wahoo was a Gato class submarine laid down by Mare Island Naval Shipyard in San Fransisco in June 1941. She was launched in February 1942 and entered service in the US Navy three months later. She completed six war patrols, credited with sinking four enemy ships. On her seventh patrol she was spotted and attacked by Japanese airplanes and ships 11.October 1943 and sunk north of Japan. Attempts to located the wreck started in the 1990's, and the wreck was finally found in 2005 in the La Perouse strait on a depth of 65 meter.
