Groper

Queensland

Groper was a steam bucket dredger laid down by Fleming & Ferguson in Paisley in Scotland. Shewas launched in 1954, and delivered to Queensland in Australia the same year. She spent all her career operating with harbor and dredge work, before she was  decommissioned in the late 1970's. She was rigged down and deliberately scuttled as a breakwater at Tangalooma and Moreton Bay in February 1982. The area is host to several dozens wrecks, and most of them are visible from shore or rest submerged in shallow waters. Also see the wreck of the barge Bermagui.
