HMAS Hobart

The
Perth class destroyer HMAS Hobart was built by Defoe
Shipbuilding Company in Bay City, and was launched in
January 1964. She did service in the Australian Navy from
1965 to 2000, and was the first Australian warship to
participate in the Vietnam war. She was decommissioned in
May 2000, and two years later she was rigged down and
prepared to be sunk as an artificial reef and dive
attraction. She was scuttled 5.November 2002 south of
Adelaide near Yankalilla Bay, and settled herself on a a
depth of 15 to 30 meter.
