Western Australia

Mildura was a cargo steamer built by John Reid & Company in Scotland, and was launched in 1901 for Australian United Steam Navigation Company in Sydney. Under a journey from Wyndham to Freemantle with livestock and passengers, she drifted and ran aground under a storm at North West Cape 12. March 1907. She stood firmly stuck in shallow waters, and her inventory and cargo was safely salvaged afterwards. The battered remains of her rest today in shallow waters about a hundred meters from shore, visible on the surface during low tide on the northeast side of the Cape, north of Exmouth.
