General Kotzebue

General Kotzebue was a combined cargo and passenger paddle steamer laid down by Charles Mitchell & Company Ltd in Newcastle_Upon-Tyne, and was launched in September 1866 for the Russian Steam Navigation company in Odessa. Under one of her regular journeys between Odessa and Sevastapol she collided with another ship outside Olenivka 29. April 1895. The wreck was found in 2015, and it was speculated she was carrying paintings from the famous Russian artist and painter Ivan Aivazovsky. The wreck rest today standing on her keel on a depth of 40 to 45 meter.
