Superga

Superga was an Italian steam tanker laid down by Cantieri Viareggio Esecizi, and was launched in 1923 for the company Societa Anonima Navigazione Alta Italia. She was extensively used as a military transport under Second World War, and under a journey from Varna to Burgas she was torpedoed by the Soviet submarine Shch-211 outside Cape Emine 29. September 1941. Still afloat but heavily damaged, she was beached outside Varna where she later broke in two and sank. The bow section rest today on a depth of 25 meter about half a nautical mile outside Kamchia Beach south of Varna. Also see the wreck of the Romanian steamer Peles.
