Charles L. Brown

Salernum was a general cargo ship built by Fincantieri Castellamare in Naples, and was launched in 1954. She was sold to the US telecom company AT&T Transatlantic in 1986, and refitted as a cable ship and renamed Charles L. Brown. After years of service and in a decaying state, she was bought by the local authorities in 2002 for the symbolic amount of one US dollar and marked to be sunk as an artificial reef. She was scuttled 25. July 2003 and rest today on her starboard side on a depth of 22 to 31 meter southwest of Sint Eustatius.
