USS
Scuffle was
an Admirable class minesweeper laid down by Winslow Marine
Railway & Shipbuilding Company in Seattle May1943. She
was launched three months later and was commissioned in
May 1944. She did service in the Pacific during World War
Two where she earned five Battle Stars. She was
transferred to the Reserve fleet in 1946, and in October
1962 she was sold to the Mexican Navy and renamed General Felipe Xicoténcatl.
She was scuttled in 1999 as an artificial reef and dive
attraction outside Consumel in Mexico. The wreck rest
today on her keel as a classic Donald Duck wreck on a
depth of approximately 15 to 23 meter outside Chankanaab
Park.
