USS Kittywake

USS
Kittywake was laid down as a submarine rescue vessel by
Savannah Machine & Foundry Company, and was launched
in July 1945 for US Navy. She was commissioned in July
1946 and stayed in active service until September 1994. In
2008 she was transferred to the authorities in Cayman
Island, designated to be sunk as an artificial reef the
year after. After being rigged down and prepared, she was
finally scuttled outside Cayman Island 5. January 2011.
The wreck rest today at Seven Mile Beach at West Bay on a
depth of approximately 5 to 20 meter close to shore.
