Persia II


Atlantik was a coastal freighter laid down by Heinrich Brand Schiffswerft GmbH in Oldenburg in November 1939, and was launched in May 1940 for the German company Gräpel in Hamburg. She was converted and lengthened in 1950, and twelve years later renamed to Persia II. She changed owners several times before she ended up sailing for Oliviere in Kingstown in 1997. Under a journey from Port of Spain to Kingstown loaded with general goods, she developed a leak under a gale and sank outside Grenada 3. March 2017. The wreck rest today standing on her keel about eight nautical miles outside Point Salines on a depth of 22 to 35 meter.
