NAMC YS - 11 / A213


Nihon Aircraft Manufacturing Corporation in Japan produced in the years 1962 to 1974 the civilian passenger and turbo prop airplane YS-11. These planes have had 20 crashed through history, and in 1983 the Japanese company went bankrupt. Outside Aruba rest the wreck of one of these planes that served for Air Aruba. In 2004 the plane was sunk as an artificial reef and dive site right outside the airport. The wreck rest next to the wreck of an Convair CV-440 plane on a depth of approx 13 to 22 meter outside Sonesta Reef.
