Nihon
Aircraft Manufacturing Corporation in Japan produced in
the years 1962 to 1974 the civilian passenger and turbo
prop airplane YS-11. These planes had more than twenty
serious crashes through their active history, and in 1983
the Japanese company went bankrupt. Outside Aruba rest the
wreck of one of these planes that operated for Air Aruba.
In 2004 the plane was scuttled as an artificial reef and
dive site right outside the airport. The wreck rest today
next to the wreck of an Convair

22 meter at Sonesta Reef.
