The steamship Andra was built in Hamburg and launched in 1922 for a German company. She was in 1937 sold to Belgium and renamed to Andra. Under the Spanish civil war she was hired by the Republican forces and used to break the blockade of Spain with deliveries of goods and war material. Outside Laredo she was sunk by the light cruiser Almirante Cervera who sailed under the Nationalists Flag 4.April 1937. The wreck was found by local divers resting on her keel in 2002 outside Laredo on a depth of approximately 85 meter.
