The
steamship Indra was built in Hamburg in Germany, and was
launched in 1922 for Wachsmuth & Krogmann. She was in
1937 sold to the Belgium company Entreprises Maritimes
Belges and renamed to Andra. Under the Spanish civil war
she was chartered by the Republican forces and used to
break the blockade of Spain with deliveries of war
material. Outside Laredo she was spotted and sunk
4. April 1937 by the light cruiser Almirante
Cervera who sailed under the Nationalist's flag . The
wreck was found by sports divers in 2002 resting on her
keel as a classic Donald Duck wreck outside Laredo on a
depth of approximately 85 meter.
