The steamer Ost was built by Henry Koch in Lübeck in Germany, and was launched in 1889 for the company Rederei Germania in Geestemünde. She was sold in 1914  to Fischer & Larsen and renamed Augiste Helmerich. Under a journey from Finland to to Germany loaded with wood, she collided with the Danish steamer Normandie outside Öland 26. September 1919 and disappeared in the deep. The wreck was found in 2000 and rest today standing on her keel as a classic Donald Duck wreck on a depth of 43 to 58 meter east of Borgholm.
