The
steamer Ost was built by Henry Koch in Lübeck and was
launched in 1889. She changed later name to Germania
before she sailed for the company Fischer & Larsen as
Augiste Helmerich in 1914. Under a journey from Finland to
to Germany loaded with wood she collided with the Danish
steamer Normandiet outside Öland 26.September 1919 and
sank. The wreck was found in the early 2000s and rest
today standing on her keel as a classic "Donald Duck"
wreck on a depth of 43 to 58 meter east of Borgholm on
Öland. Despite her old age, in a remarkable good
condition.
