Bonita
was on a journey from Luleaa to Haltenau loaded with iron
ore when she collided with the steamer Bojan 14. October
1941. Because of the war, all vessels who sailed through
these waters had their lights turned off, and the Swedish
ship Bojan didn't have any time to steer clear of Bonita.
Her port side was ripped open and she went down in the
deep within a few minutes. Of a crew of 24 men, only Captain S.
Farup and three men survived. The
wreck rest today on a depth of 35 to 42 meter nine
nautical miles southeast of Trelleborg.
