Boringia
went down in the deep northwest of Lysegrunden in Kattegat
in Agust 1975. She was on a journey from Nørresund to Nexø
loaded with 220 tons of concrete and a crew of three men.
At midnight she had arrived in Kattegat, when the captain
was rushed up to the bridge. Boringia`s bow wouldn't
straighten up because of the heavy cargo and the water had
started to flood her. Emergency signals were sent and the
crew started to prepare to abandon ship. The Danish
torpedo boat Ørnen arrived 03:00, and then the whole bow
was under water. An hour later a big crash could be heard
when the heavy cargo loosened and slammed into the cargo
room. This was the depth sentence for Boringia and shortly
after she disappeared in the deep. The remains rest today
on a depth of 20 to 30 meter northwest of Tisvilde.
