Estonia,Baltic Sea

The cruise ferry Estonia and the accident in 1994 is one of the worst maritime disasters in peace time. Under a voyage from Talinn to Stockholm she wrecked at night outside the coast of Estonia 28.September 1994. 852 people perished in the accident, most of them passengers. The wreck rest today on her starboard side on a depth of 55 to 85 meter. Memorials has been been raised in Stockholm in Sweden and at Hiiumaa in Finland. The wreck is considered a grave and all traffic and diving at the location is prohibited.
